As a Public Health Communications Intern for the Maryland Department of Health, I had the opportunity to create impactful social media content focused on women’s heart health. Collaborating with members of the communications team, I brainstormed and developed posts that aimed to raise awareness about heart health issues affecting women. Here are two examples of my work:
Example 1: High Blood Pressure During Pregnancy
English Post:
#DYK High blood pressure during pregnancy doubles your risk of developing heart disease later in life. Learn how you can lower your risk: http://cdc.gov/…/high-blood-pressure-during-pregnancy.html
This post highlights the long-term risks of high blood pressure during pregnancy and provides a resource for women to learn more about managing their heart health.
Example 2: High Blood Pressure in Women
English Post:
#DYK High blood pressure during pregnancy doubles your risk of developing heart disease later in life. Learn how you can lower your risk: http://cdc.gov/…/high-blood-pressure-during-pregnancy.html
This post emphasizes the prevalence of high blood pressure among women in the U.S. and encourages proactive steps to protect heart health.
Both posts were translated into Spanish to reach a broader audience, ensuring that vital health information is accessible to diverse communities. These efforts are a part of the Maryland Department of Health’s commitment to inclusive public health communication.
